Our adventure to see Transformers 3

Yesterday, I entered a contest to win tickets to a special screening of Transformers 3 and at 1230pm, I received the email I had won! Yay! I was super excited. I knew exactly who I was going to take...my 6 year old son! So, we planned for my other two children to stay with someone else and at about 415 we were racing to get into the city.

Well, we got onto the 59th street Bridge and poof...traffic!! Ugh! By the time we got past all that and reached the west side, now came the daunting task of finding parking! God was good! We found a parking and then what happens...its one of the pay meters...I arm myself with $3 worth of quarters and what do I find? Its .50 for 10 minutes!!! And it was only 5pm and the meter was in effect until 7pm! I asked someone if they had four quarters for a dollar and nada! So, I threw up a prayer put my quarters in, printed my reciept, put it on the dashboard and ran to make it to the movie in time!

We stood on a small line designated for ticket holders needing to pick up their tickets. Its then that we realize, not only were we goign to be seeing a private screening of TF3, but it was in IMAX and in 3D!!! What a treat! We gave them my name, got our tickets and skipped away to the escalator. When we finally reached the top, we walk in to a room filled with bags of popcorn and sodas...ALL FREE!!! We each grab a popcorn and a soda and head for the door. In our path was another man giving away TF3 t-shirts! We asked for one and moved on to the next person waiting to hand us our 3D glasses. Happily and super excited we entered a theater filled with people! We find our seats and wait for the show to start!

I have to say, the movie was engaging, funny, action packed, emotional! It was just plain ole' great! My son and I raved about coming out of the theater. But then reality sets in and we remember about the car! It's 8:15 by now and as we are walking over to the car we are stretching our necks trying to see if that horrid orange paper is on the window! And to our surprise, NOTHING! Woohoo! I turn to my son and tell him ...say "Thank you Jesus" ...and he does lol.

I have to say, it is very rare that I get to venture out with just one of my boys and enjoy our time....I am glad I got this opportunity. My son and I loved the movie and the time spent without all the sibling bickering!

So, what's my two cents on this....Remember to make time for each one of your children. It is those moments that bond you forever! Memories made between just the two of you! That's my two cents...and they definitely count!

Teens...adjusting to growing up...as their parent!

So, it is finally hitting me that my little boy is not so little anymore. Granted he is taller than me and has his own social life but now its time to realize the GIRLS! Yep...the witches who are going to inevitably break my baby's heart lol. OK, OK...a little harsh but I have been the only woman in his life for almost 14 years and now here comes the parade of teenage girls!

I love to see the embarassing smile myson gets when I mention her! Oh and I forgot to mention, she is gorgeous!! Not that I would expect anything less! Duh, my son is gorgeous. (And I'm not just saying that because he is my son, ok, maybe just a little partial LOL) I told my son he is really going to love me more now! Because I remember being his age and entering the dating world. I am not closed minded and I know that if I disapprove he will date her anyway, behind my back! And all that harbors is trouble! He laughed at me a little but I think he totally got me!

I am a little saddened by the idea of some new chic being the center of my son's attention but it is a moment in  a mom's life which she cherishes because it will be the time when everything you taught them will be tested. The poor first girl! LOL! My son is a little shy so its even cuter to watch! But I can't wait to start hearing the.."Mom, can we go to the movies?" I trust my son completely, I have raised him to be a perfect gentleman and remember that this girl is someone else's daughter too!

Oh the new journey in motherhood is beginning! And I can't wait!

Share some of your firsts here with me. I don't know about you but these moments are the best days of my life! Well, that's my two cents, but they count!

Skin MD - A Review and Giveaway

Recently, I was asked to review Skin MD (which I received no compensation for) and I have to say I love this product. All three of my boys have had some form of eczema and I have tried numerous moisturizers to help relieve the itch from the dryness. And I have to say within a few days of applying a very small amount to their skin, the difference was definitely noticeable. And now with this heat wave we have hitting us here in NY, not only is their skin more moisturized, it is now available with SPF15! How great is that?!

Let me tell you a little about the product:

  • It has no greasy residue, after applying.
  • No fragrance - which is great because I have boys who don't want to smell like flowers : )
  • No Parabens
  • No Petrochemicals
  • No Dyes
This is not just any kind of lotion, this is a shielding lotion. What does that mean? It means that it "provides a natural barrier on top of the skin to protect it from outside chemicals and irritants. In addition, it also acts to keep the moisture and the oils in the skin so that skin can heal itself." -Dr. Lisa Benest, Board Certified Dermatologist.

If you, your family, or your friends suffer from bouts of eczema or extremely dry skin, I would definitely invest in purchasing some Skin MD. And to get you on your way, I am offering one lucky winner the oportunity to receive some sample packets of Skin MD and Skin MD with sunscreen! Please reply to this post and comment on why you need Skin MD and one lucky winner will be chosen at random via random.org. Enter now, this giveaway ends at 11:59pm EST on June 30, 2011.

Do you hide behind your laptop or phone?

Do you ever feel like facebook and texting does nothing but cause more issues?! Like what happened to people talking face to face and being real with one another? And did you ever notice how people get really bold when they post it online? Like really, come on people, grow up! Where did the days of communicating with a person  intimately go? Now, people meet online and use video chat...go out people, meet, have a drink! Get to know one another on the real because the people are who we want people to think we are. I, as a blogger, spend alot of time behind my laptop but I make sure to get out and meet with my friends and family. Don't get me wrong, I love my facebook and I text alot! But I also remember that in person communication is needed. Do you hide behind your phone or laptop? Do you talk with a confidence you never had when you post online? Why?

I personally don't post anything on facebook or send texts that I have not already made known in person. I just think its cowardly for people to hide behind their phones and computers because its easier. Be real people, I always am. But thats just my two cents, but they count!

Re-Fashion NYC

Yesterday in the mail, I received this postcard and it was for a program called, re-fashion NYC. The program is NYC's official clothing reuse program in partnership with HOUSING WORKS, to help reduce waste and 100% percent of the proceeds go to benefit life-saving services for low-income and homeless New Yorkers who are either living with or have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

The program itself will be only available to apartment building initially, with the intent of placing additional clothing bins in other public and private locations. If you would like to have a bin placed in your apartment building, or just want more information on how to become a part of this awesome program you can visit re-fashion NYC

Eager to donate now?! To find a location near you where you can donate unwanted clothes, accessories, books, furniture, electronics and other gently used goods, visit the link above.

I know most of us either have done our spring cleaning or are about to and don't know what to do with the stuff we don't want. Me, personally, loves this idea. There is so much stuff with having three boys that I am constantly looking to get rid of but don't know what to do with. That this program now offers me a chance to give back.

Will you reach into your closets and give? It's a reason to motivate you to finally do that closet cleaning you've been putting off. I mean, this is just my two cents...but they count! So, make yours count too!
