Yesterday in the mail, I received this postcard and it was for a program called, re-fashion NYC. The program is NYC's official clothing reuse program in partnership with HOUSING WORKS, to help reduce waste and 100% percent of the proceeds go to benefit life-saving services for low-income and homeless New Yorkers who are either living with or have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
The program itself will be only available to apartment building initially, with the intent of placing additional clothing bins in other public and private locations. I know most of us either have done our spring cleaning or are about to and don't know what to do with the stuff we don't want. Me, personally, loves this idea. There is so much stuff with having three boys that I am constantly looking to get rid of but don't know what to do with. That this program now offers me a chance to give back.
